A CHINCHILLA is a South America animal of the family of ‘RODENTIA’. A nocturnal rock hopper inhabiting the High Andes, it’s fur is one of most dense of any other animal (60 hairs per follicle) in the world. Disappearing rapidly in it’s natural environment in great numbers. However, the chinchilla is getting more popular in captivity because of it’s sensitivity, shyness and intelligence. These factors accompanied by the chinchilla’s cleanliness and relatively uncomplicated lifestyle mean it has become a popular pet.
ABOUT, ‘THE CHINCHILLA CHAT LINE’ (C.C.L.). In February 1998, Founder/Senior Advisor, Roger Whear, inaugurated the ‘Chinchilla Chat Line’ (C.C.L.). Which exists to promote and expand knowledge of the chinchilla hence creating a more responsible, caring and euphoric life for them. Observational advice is provided free to all who request it and as far as we know, C.C.L. is the first organisation of it’s kind in the world. We always recommend any physical ailments/problems should immediately be treated by a professional veterinary practitioner (contact details available on our site).
Finally ‘Chinchilla Chat Line’ is a non-commercial organisation providing us an unbiased platform for all things ‘CHINCHILLA’.
We would like to congratulate John Bower, a long standing patron to Chinchilla Chat Line,
for being awarded an MBE in the New Year Honours List.
